Ask It About Your Nation
Put the AI to the test on something you know better than it does
Pick your ground
In Stage 1 you met the AI. Now you're going to test it on a subject where you are the expert: your own nation or community.
Choose the nation, band, or community you want to ask about. It could be the nation you're a citizen of, the community you live in, or one you're connected to. Write the name at the top of your Field Notes.
ðŠķ Why this matters
You already know things about your community that no website can fully capture. That makes you the perfect person to catch what an AI gets wrong.
Start with the basics
Ask the AI simple, factual questions first. Does it even know your nation exists? Does it get the location right?
Try these (swap in your nation's name)
What can you tell me about the Red Lake Nation? Where is the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe located? Is [your nation] a federally recognized Tribal nation?Read carefully. Is each answer right, a little off, or flat-out wrong?
Go deeper
Now ask about history, language, and life today. This is where an AI often gets vague, mixes nations up, or slips into stereotypes.
Try these
What language does [your nation] speak, and is it still spoken today? What is [your nation] known for? Tell me about [your nation] today, in the present.Watch for two things: does it talk about your people as if they only existed in the past? And does it give real, specific detail, or just general "Native American" statements that could apply to anyone?

An AI can be confidently wrong. A smooth, sure-sounding answer is not the same as a correct one, especially about communities the internet describes poorly.
Log what you found
In your Field Notes, record specific examples: one thing it got right, one thing it got wrong or too vague, and how sure it sounded either way.

These notes are evidence. In Stage 3 you'll figure out why the AI does better on some questions than others, and your examples will make it click.
